He’s considered among the BEST makeup artists & hair stylists in India and has worked with all the top Bollywood stars and A-list celebrities. In an exclusive shoot for us, Clint Fernandes predicts the hairstyles which will be a super-hit for the ongoing party season.
When I suggested to Clint Fernandes to style an exclusive shoot for us which would showcase the hairstyle trends for the Christmas and New Year season, he eagerly jumped at the opportunity and even offered to shoot it for me, since photography is his hobby and passion.
It took barely a day for Clint to speed dial beautician / hairstylist Samantha Wadhwani of Samantha’s Salon to give our models a quick trim and touch up of their hair colour at her lovely studio on Hill Road in Mumbai.
Within Twenty-Four hours, Samantha and Clint had four young men looking suave and ready to slay with their haircuts and colours.
Here are the looks which Clint has designed and especially photographed by us….
Clint Fernandes: Swagat had pre-lightened hair which I really liked for the season. The blond look is quite a rage among the younger lot today. Samantha cut his hair with a short fade on the sides and back and kept it long on the top. Samantha suggested that Swagat should go more platinum and hence, lightened his hair further.
On his skin, I’ve used a heavy moisturizer by La Roche Posse, followed by eye cream from Shiseido around the eyes. I followed this with tinted moisturiser and blended it in moving from the nose outwards.
I dusted some translucent powder on the face to keep it matte. On the lips, I’ve used a bit of Kiehl’s lip balm.
As for his hair, hair I’ve brushed it with leave-in conditioner from Tigi Bedhead, using the Panasonic hand brush hair dryer to give it volume and to straighten it further. I used a bit of hair pomade from Bumble & Bumble to give it more texture and direction. I have moved his hair upwards and towards the back of the head. I liked the look with a bit more movement as it looks better with such light colour.
This look works great for most skin tones from dark to fair. The hair colour should be done by trusted and experienced professionals. Also one should be careful about over processing post colouring one should take good care of the hair as advised.
Clint Fernandes: Since Shahrukh personally prefers his hair, straight, I asked Samantha to pre coloured his hair with lighter highlights. As the sides were cut with a sharp fade, I used the straightener with some Elnett hair spray to straighten his hair further.
I kept the sides and front really sharp and high with a very gradual slope towards the back of the head. For some extra festive spirit, I sprayed a flash of green temporary hair colour from B:Blunt on to one side and brushed it into place.
The skin was prepped with a light moisturizer and then followed with a tinted BB cream just at the T-zone and spread it outwards.
This look is great with formals as well as more rough look. One can skip the green spray-on colour for more formal, black-tie events.
Clint Fernandes: For Jordache’s hair Samantha gave him a semi gradual fade at the sides and back and kept substantial length around the crown. She also did a few chestnut streaks at the crown area to create more texture without losing the volume of the hair. For his face, Jordache trimmed and shaped up his beard and mustache.
On his skin, I have used a light tinted moisturizer and followed it with a BB cream from Kiehl’s after applying just a hint of eye cream around the eyes. On his lips, I have used the lip balm from Himalaya.
For his hair, I’ve used just prep from Bumble & Bumble and blow-dried the top of the hair by moving the brush upwards and towards the back. I followed it up with the straightener for an extra sleek look and then sprayed L’Oreal’s next day hair at the base and L’Oreal Elnett hair spray along the length. Not too much though as there may be too much product in the hair.
With my hands, I combed the hair upwards and towards the back. This look works great with formals as well as a semi formal look. It also looks great with jeans and a tshirt.
Clint Fernandes: For Jason, Samantha did a very gradual fade at the sides and back of his head.
On the crown, she kept it a bit long where the hair could be worn casually or styled for the evening out. There is a hint of faded platinum streaks done to create more texture to the hair. This works well when the hair is a bit thin or very dark.
For a festive look, I prepped his skin with a bit of a heavy moisturiser from La Roche Posse, and followed with a dab of eye cream from Bobby Brown around his eyes. On his lips, I’ve used the lip balm from Kiehl’s.
Around his eyes, I’ve used a dot each of tinted moisturizer and massaged it in. I followed it up with a small dab of cream to powder concealer from Shiseido and a bit of translucent powder all over the face to matte it.
On his, hair I’ve use the Sumo Wax Pomade by Bumble and Bumble just to the texture the hair and lift it into spikes. Its a great product to give texture and spikes without too much residue or product.
Clint Fernandes: And finally, for those men who have a mop of curly hair, here’s a fun look which you can try. Since Samantha had cut the sides really short with a high fade and a sharpened razored parting on both sides, I added on some Foxy Curls Mousse from TIGI Bedhead to the crown and then sprayed it with some curl spray and scrunched the hair with my fingers to enhance the curls.
On his face, I’ve used a light matte moisturizer from Kiehl’s, and followed with just a couple of dots of BB cream in Shahrukhs matching shade tone on the T zone and spread that out. This will keep the skin nourished through the evening as well as matte and fresh all through an evening of hectic partying.
I then went back to the hair as the curl mousse and spray had done it work of enhancing the curls by now and also has dried up a bit. I fluff the curls up with my fingers and scrunch them into place. To create a more festive look, I’ve used a copper bronze temporary hair colour spray from B:Blunt and sprayed the curls to give the hair a bit of a twist.
As the colour does not run easily its good enough for an evening and can be washed out the next day. Do place a tissue upon the hair that you don’t want coloured.
