The Amateurs Riders Club of Mumbai organized their second international polo match of the season which saw team India play a heart-stopping match against team Argentina at the ARC Polo Ground at Mumbai’s iconic racecourse.

The glitzy event was hosted by the St. Regis (Mumbai) and saw the match conclude (thankfully) with a draw.

The St. Regis brand has a long standing association with polo, with the sport being a part of the St. Regisโ€™ signature programs.

A day on the field was perfect for a taste of the famed St. Regis Heritage.

Representing the India team were Captain Col. Ravi Rathod, Abhimanyu Pathak, Salim Azmi and Mitesh Mehta, who scored a total of three goals making them a worthy competition against the Argentinians.

The Argentinian team was represented by Marcelo Araya, Benjamรญn Araya, Ignacio Arbelbide and Miguel Olivera. They too scored a total of three goals.

The nail biting match was followed by a fashion show featuring the latest resort wear collection by veteran designer Pria Kataaria Puri. Apart from the sensuous, breezy and colourful creations, what stood out about this show was the ramp which was 300 feet long.

Says show director and choreographer Achla Sachdev, “What a challenging and exhilarating experience to accomplish a never-been-done-before fashion show. The length of the ramp ensured that no matter where the audience were sitting, they could see the clothes at close range. It was a lot of fun and very dramatic!”

Post the match and the fashion show, guests were treated to a no-holds-barred party with flowing champagne, gourmet food and a deejay setup to dance the night away – all courtesy of the St. Regis Hotel.
