The Amateurs Riders’ Club hosted the Southern Command Polo Cup at their 71st Annual Horse Show and Polo Tournaments.
On a muggy and sunny afternoon in Mumbai last week, the polo grounds at the Mahalaxmi Racecourse came alive with the sounds of cheers and galloping horses as team V Polo versus team Bake House Cafe fought hard against each other to win the much coveted Southern Command Polo Cup.
With a total score of seven goals and led by the spirited Sunny Patel, The Bake House Cafe team were crowned the undisputed champions.
The nail biting match was preceded with the showcase of a splendid motorcycle display and was followed by an Army dog show and different forms of martial art and performances which exhibited grandeur and gallantry.
The event commenced with the jaw-dropping showcase of courage by the motorcycle display team to a silent warrior display by the army dog unit. Keeping the high energy momentum of the polo match on, the spectators then witnessed the most elegant and graceful form of martial art from Kerala, Kalarippayattu.
Following the performance from South India, the 7 Sikh Battalion from Punjab showcased incredible valour performing the traditional martial art, Gatka.
