Out of six young designers who will be showcasing their talent at the Gen Next show at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2016 in August, three are presenting menswear collections. Hurray!
Abhishek Paatni, Gaurav Khanijo and Vaibhav Singh promise to revolutionise men’s wear in India with their dramatic and well-executed designs which they will debut at Lakme Fashion Week in Mumbai next month.
Here’s a sneak peek into what they have to offer…
ABHISHEK PAATNI: Abhishek hails from New Delhi and has worked as Creative Head at Mr. Button and was a style consultant at Blackberrys and the founder of Nought One (pret and bespoke).
He says that, “Nought One was born out of the vision to create premium men’s clothing that is a perfect amalgamation of street wear and tailored luxury, to dress the jaunty man who is unapologetic to experiment with his style.”
This Twenty-Nine years old designer is unafraid to play with experimental details in tailored finesse and his label has been worn by numerous celebrities and has featured in magazine spreads as well.
GAURAV KHANIJO: Thirty-Two years old Gaurav also hails from New Delhi. He has been a design intern at Narendra Kumar in Mumbai, Bless in Paris and worked as a designer at Meridian Apparels in Tirupur.
The forte of his brand is the use of fine Indian handlooms to create modern silhouettes with a timeless vintage flair.
His collection, caled Morpheus, takes inspiration from the intriguing creature that is a dragonfly and also the man who exhibits qualities similar to the dragonfly – the true Indian dandy, exuding a sense of power, poise, depth of character and nonchalance. This collection includes pieces handcrafted with sumptuous Bhagalpur, Ghicha, Matka, Muga and Tussar silks and features intricate hand-stitching, chain-stitching, quilting, fabric origami and 3D embroidery techniques resulting in a dramatic menswear range with hints of visual illusions.
VAIBHAV SINGH: Vaibhav is from Gurgaon, Haryana. This youngster has designed men’s wear garments for brands like Harley Davidson, All Saints, True Religion and Red Skins at Apollo International Limited.
His brand has nurtured extremely detailed and well cut garments which could captivate the viewer’s attention at the first sight.
The unique and minute details sit perfectly with his peculiar signature which makes his garments visibly different in each aspect.
