Luke Perry was the James Dean of the Nineties

With his brooding looks and lanky frame, Luke Perry was considered the “New James Dean” back in the Nineties.

“At one point or another, everybody gets called the new James Dean,” said Luke Perry in an interview many years ago.

He was also quoted as saying, “I’m not James Dean. And no one else is, either.”

As Dylan McKay, the high-school student in Beverly Hills 90210 (1990 – 1995 and 1998 – 2000), Luke was often compared to the late, iconic Hollywood star because of his broody good looks and lanky frame.

In yet another interview, he said, “I’m going to be linked with him until I die, but that’s actually just fine. I created Dylan McKay. He’s mine!”

Ironically, just like James Dean, he too died much too soon. Yesterday it was announced that Luke Perry had died from complications after suffering a massive stroke. He was just Fifty-Two years old.
