Etihad Airways presented ‘Cosmic Love’ by internationally renowned designer Manish Arora at Lakmé Fashion Week.
When it comes to a Manish Arora fashion show, you can bet your last Rupee that it will definitely be the most talked about and anticipated event in the city. And that’s exactly what happened when the internationally acclaimed designer showcased his fall / winter offerings in the atrium of the Palladium Mall as part of Lakme Fashion Week.
The show was presented by Etihad Airways and saw forty lissome models descending from the escalator, walking the make-shift ramp and then ascending the escalator again, in his fantastical, intergalactic creations.
True to his trippy style, Manish tells us, “The line I showcased in Mumbai is inspired by the tribes of Africa and outer reaches of the cosmos!”
The creations were a visual interplay of colours, styles, intricate silhouettes and designs. Taking the audience on a fast-paced fashion journey from tribal Africa to Aztec prints that reflected Art Deco touches, Manish created geometrics with patchwork and embroidery.
Detailing has always been Manish’s fortè and the designer unleashed stunning velvet appliqués and optical illusion peacock embellishments in gleaming gold and green.
Astrology too, played a major role as shooting stars and golden sunrays appeared on the garments to add that “cosmic” effect.
Of course, it was like a stampede when Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh arrived (forty-five minutes late) to watch the show from the front row. Wearing a rainbow sequined bomber jacket with black jeans and dark black glares (at night? In a mall??) the flamboyant star played to the gallery as he posed and preened for his numerous fans who lined the balconies of the mall.
What do you think of his look?
