The press conference to launch The Party Starter anthem by Chandon (in Mumbai) may have started late; But once the star of the evening – Sonam Kapoor – took to the stage, all was forgiven.

Not only did she look like a gazillion bucks in her ruffled jumpsuit by Rasario Atelier (a Russian label), but the girl – who is known to speak her mind – also answered hard-hitting questions from the media with her characteristic candor and wit.

When asked by a member of the Fourth Estate for her opinion on the restrictions which people (read: political outfits) seem to be putting on women these days, Sonam Kapoor replied:

“I do not believe in censorship, honestly! I believe that everybody should have their own choice, whether you want to be in a burkha or whether you want to be in a bikini. I don’t think – whether it’s your religion, whether it’s the way you want to dress, whether it’s your preference of sexuality – everybody should be given a choice. Nobody should be told what to do. The more you censor someone, the more you tell them what to do, there will be more rebellion. Everybody should be given a choice and if they’re not being given a choice, then what is the point of being an Indian? And that’s what India is about, right? We’re supposed to be the largest democracy in the world….!”

Clearly Sonam is not afraid of backlash from Twitter trolls and we think that someone with her sense of justice & humanity, should lead the country as our Prime Minister.
