Avanti Nagral, a talented young singer from Bombay and Boston launched her debut single at Shiro in Mumbai.
Even though it rained heavily in Mumbai city, the mood at Shiro was upbeat and easy as the pretty and petite singer, Avanti Nagral, belted out her debut single – I Like – to an audience which comprised of heavy weights from the music industry.
Ehsaan Noorani, Mihir Joshi (who was the emcee for the evening), Ranjit Barot, Loy Mendonsa and Luke Kenny were perfect gentlemen as they cheered her on an offered her encouraging words of advice.
In fact, Avanti also launched her music video in 360 degree virtual reality format which we are given to believe, is a first in India.
Says Avanti, “The song ‘I Like’ is a rendition of my personal and musical identities. It has an addictive chorus that depicts girl power. The song is about following your dreams, your passions, and being independent in your thoughts, irrespective of public opinion. It portrays the individuality that is essential to empower women. The song was actually born out of stories and struggles of women empowerment.”
Avanti’s music encompasses various genres – Indian Classical, Broadway, Church/Gospel and Devotional – into a modern Pop-Soul sound
Also spotted at the event and having a jolly good time were Bollywood actors Freddy Daruwala and Gaurav Arora.
